Privacy

Comparepedia keeps the service lean and transparent. We only collect the minimum data required to operate www.comparepedia.org, protect upstream providers, and understand high-level usage trends.

Data collection

We log anonymised request metadata such as timestamp, requested URL, IP hash, and user-agent string. This information helps us detect abuse, troubleshoot errors, and measure overall reliability.

We do not store the raw content of your queries beyond short-term caching required to deliver results quickly.

Cookies and local storage

Comparepedia does not set tracking cookies or use persistent browser storage.

Third-party services

Search results contain outbound links to Grokipedia and Wikipedia. When you follow those links you are subject to each provider's privacy practices. We honour their rate limits and caching directives to minimise unnecessary requests.

Data retention

KV cache entries expire within one hour, and stale data is removed after twenty-four hours. Diagnostic logs are retained for up to thirty days before automatic deletion.

Advertising & AdSense

When we run Google AdSense or partner placements, ads are limited to clearly labeled sections of the page. Comparepedia does not share personally identifiable information with advertisers; only aggregated metrics such as page impressions and topic categories are used to evaluate performance.

AdSense may read or set cookies that are necessary for frequency capping and fraud prevention. You can opt out of personalised ads via Google's Ad Settings, and we honour the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal where supported. Details about any monetised content are recapped in the blog alongside changelog notes.
